Lisa Levinson

Lisa Levinson, a certified teaching member of Alexander Technique International as well as a certified Registered Movement Therapist, maintains a lively private practice in Pittsburgh, PA.  Her students include musicians (instrumentalists, vocalists, conductors), actors, artists, psychologists, equestrians, computer and business professionals, and people with pain issues.  Prior to training as an Alexander teacher, Lisa had dual careers as a computer consultant and as a freelance violinist, playing in the Westmoreland Symphony (Greensburg, PA) for 14 years.  After a pause of several years, during which she was raising her children, Lisa resumed violin playing and now performs with several small chamber groups.  Her experience as a musician greatly colors her teaching, particularly when working with other musicians.

Lisa completed her Alexander training at The Alexander Alliance in Philadelphia, PA, under the direction of Bruce and Martha Fertman, in 1998.  She continues to study with master teachers of the technique, and considers her mentors to be Judith C. Stern and Elisabeth Walker.  Lisa collaborates in workshops throughout the Pittsburgh region and teaches regularly in the music school at West Virginia University.

Much has been said and written about the Alexander Technique, but there is nothing like actually working with an Alexander teacher. Lisa Levinson's skill as an Alexander instructor is enhanced by her caring and communicative manner. I can always sense her joy in sharing this amazing exploration in learning.
